I was talking to a guy the other day that had a 115 mercury with oil injection. Said his horn went off, blah, blah, blah. So he was putting the block off kit on it.

I asked what about the gear pieces? Won't the pieces go into the cylinders and cause damage?

Or does the plastic pass thru?

Just kind of curious about this.

Thanks

A 115hp 4 cylinder is bottom driven and rarely fails, plus it does not have any sensors to monitor it. The only reason for the horn to go off would be oil low in tank, float fell off(common) or alarm module failed. If a 115 V-6 the above wont apply and plastic is burnt up in cylinder and ejected out exhaust...

The gear basically melts the plastic teeth off it and they would go through the motor.---Have seen a few damaged gears -------Your buddy needs to investigate whether the horn was for an overheat condition !

Yea, not my buddy. Guy called the other day asking about block off, and if he can use a vacuum cleaner to suck out his pieces. Go figure.
It was a 150, not 115, by the way.

Thanks
