1977 Merc 85 conversion

I know I had an uncle mention I could do a carb conversion (I think that is what it was anyway) to convert my 50 hp to a 70 hp. So I am wondering if i could do the same for my 85hp maybe to a 95 hp as that is the max rated for my boat. Would be nice to get a few more hp without the need for a repower. Is this possible? If so, is it something that would be somewhat simple or complex?

Ummm, no. The 4-cylinder 85 was maxed out as it was. It was eventually de-rated to 80, and eventually 75 by the mid 1980s before being discontinued...

Okay good to know then, I have zero clue about motors so glad someone does.
