2002 Mercury 75ELPTO remote control cable adjusters and airbox plastic clip

I pulled the carbs to rebuild them and when installing airbox backing plate I realized I did not know how the plastic clip worked with the shifter and throttle cables and their threaded plastic adjusters. Do those plastic adjusters fit into the open space in the airbox plate, or do they behind it. If anyone has a pic, that would be awesome.

I just found out the backing plate is actually called the attenuator plate and clip I was talking about is a latch according to parts diagram. I see a Cup on the diagram, but do not have this or it fell under motor. Does the cup somehow work with the cables?

Yes, The cup has 2 holes in it so the cable adjusters slide into it and then get latched down. I never had that part come out on me before when doing mine, It must be down in the motor or where you had the parts laying.

thanks yzf125. I found the Cup. It makes sense how it goes together. Issue solved.

Now if I can just get it to start...............
