Is this motor supposed to have a shallow drive function?

I'm having trouble reading the serial no. info, but looks to be somewhere in 1992-1994 range. I'm sure one of the guys that really understands the tables can chime in with the exact year.

Not sure what a shallow drive function is, so, can't help you there.

Shallow drive is a linkage system that allows the motor to be tipped up and locked about 25 degrees or so above the normal operating position. I have had it on several 15 and 30 hp Johnson, a 20 Tohatsu, and also seen it on numbers of other outboards.

Late 70s to mid 80s motor built by Yamaha do not believe they have shallowater drive on them. They are hard to date i had an 8 hp mariner built yamaha even mercury could not tell me when it was built. There are people here who know.

Appreciate your reply, flyingscott. The odd thing is I have a 5 hp Mariner on the same boat that was bought bought the same year by my friend, and it has shallow drive.

Best I can tell from Marinshopen, it is 1994 Model 30 ELO.

Serial Range: 689-553066 - (open).
