1996 merc 60hp driveshaft removal

I would really appreciate any help anybody could give me on taking the drive shaft out of a 60hp merc.

i'm trying to remove the driveshaft, i have removed the pinion nut but the gear doesn't want to come off. there is also a nut in the case that also doesn't want to come off. Thanks for your help. The repair shops must love you.
