Hope this is the right forum.....this is more of a maintenance/tweak question than a repair.
I have a Mercury 90 HP 4-stroke that is noisy as all getout at planing speed. I see that an induction silencer used to be part of the intake, but is no longer available. I'm thinking of scouting around to find one somewhere, perhaps in the back of a repair shop or somebody's garage.
It occurs to me that there could be a good reason that the induction silencer is no longer available. Was it a bad idea? I would not want to install something that might cut down my fuel mileage (bad enough already!) or worse, damage the engine in some way.
Anybody have any info on this beast? Thanks in advance.............
