i have searched and searched with no success. I have a 99 mercury tracker pro series 75hp 2 stroke. Everything was working fine, went to start it up and the starter it self is engaging however the piece with the teeth on it attached to the starter which is what touches the flywheel is not spinning. it looks like this piece is somehow stripped out? I believe the correct name is the starter drive, it is not spinning however the starter itself is spinning and making a very loud screeching sound. can anyone advise?
