I have a 20' Fisher aluminum deck boat with a 4.3 Alpha one gen II drive. I need to replace my upper drive, I already have a 3.0 (1.94) drive and a V-8 (1.47) drive. Would it be possible to use one of these with a prop change, or is it just wishful thinking? Thanks in advance.

V6 is usually the 1.84 ratio and both drives would have to be from GEN II`s.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,.... You can try either one, but usually there ain't prop pitch enough to make up the differences,.....

Props generally run from 15"s of pitch, to 23" of pitch,....

I was able to up-prop enough on a 1.97. 170 hp, originally 1.84. What pitch are you running now?

Actually I don't have a prop on this boat yet but I have a 17, a 19, and a 21 prop I can try. I don't know which one to start with.

What is the reason for the upper replacement? It it is because of bad gears then you should just replace the whole drive.

I acquired this boat without a motor and drive, just the gimble housing. I have a lot of parts and am trying to put together something.
