Hi All

Just joined, glad to be here. Just took the boat out of storage and started it and heard a squeaky noise coming from the flywheel when running, I had water hooked up correctly and also noticed water leaking from the inspection cover from the flywheel where the noise is at.

97 merc 3.0 with Alpha one drive.

It did not do this when used it last year, I am at a complete lost trying to figure this out? I didn:t think water should be leaking from the flywheel area?? anyone have a similar problem
thanks in advance

improper winterizing popped the brass core plug behind the flywheel

I believe you pull the motor since the rear cover is also the rear mount.

Sure hope that's all it is but be sure to check for a cracked block as well as the other plugs being dislodged if the motor wasn't properly winterized it could happen. Don't put the automotive steel expansion plugs back in be sure they're the correct brass ones.
