I have to ask if there are any tricks or tools to make this damn this easier. I used to be able to go through the fire extinguisher hole and reach the location, but as the years go by and my waist line gets bigger, I can no longer reach. Do they make a tool for this application? It's at an awkward angle so a socket extension and angle adapters don't seem to work.

Outside of having grand kids, I don't know of one. If you can get it out you could install the blue wing screws for next time

^^^, If you go the blue plug route then you'll also need Merc bushing part number 22-860088 that goes into the block in order to accept the different size thread of the blue plug Merc part number 22-806608A02 --PLUG KIT, (.500-13) Royal Blue.

You have item numbers 3, 4, & 17 right now, http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show...21&bnbr=200&bdesc=CYLINDER+BLOCK+AND+CAMSHAFT

But would need to change to item numbers 16, 17 & 18, http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show...tandard+Cooling+System+-+ALPHA,+7+Point+Drain
