Hi all. This is my first post so bare with me. I have a 2002 Hurricane Fun Deck 235GS with a 6.2L MPI Mercruiser & Bravo III outdrive Boat runs great most the time. However, on two recent occasions I have had the boat stall. It happens after the boat has been driven for a while and then I shut it off for a few minutes. The boat will start right up and then shortly die after. Once it dies I cannot get it to start back up. It usually takes about 5 minutes to get it to fire back up and have to do so by giving it throttle. During the starting process it backfires and pops. Once it is started it runs perfect again. To me it sounds like its not getting fuel at this time. Any ideas?

The serial number for the Engine is 0M088278. Thank you!

Vapor lock possibly?
+1,

Possibly you may be experiencing fuel vapor locking right now if you're using some of last years winter grade fuel in warmer conditions this year...Or you're going through some older treated fuel.

If it continues to happen than you have two routes you can try doing to try and help hide the effects fuel vapor lock.

Either install a check valve between the thermostat and cool fuel pump to help keep hot water from flowing back down to the fuel pump or install a fuel boost pump before the water separating fuel filter like mentioned inside this service bulletin all about fuel vapor lock. Mercruiser Service Bulletin 99-07 "Gasoline Engine Vapor ... Hose # 8, http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show...r=5725&bnbr=120&bdesc=Standard+Cooling+System
http://www.mercruiserparts.com/selectDocs.asp?doc_nbr=881782+00

Check your fuels condition at the fuel filter.

Welcome to iboats!:)
