1992 Wellcraft LX3200, changing the shaft seals to the dripless seals need to remove the old stuffing type. Anyone have a suggestion or two on this process such as getting in there tween the engines and best tools to have? Would like to know the spanner size for the nuts on the stuffing box (old style). It is a tough tight space and if someone has been through this you might have a suggestion on getting in there so you are not working one handed.

There going to be a real bugger because of the tight space. Will need to remove your prop shaft far enough to get the boot on the shaft. It is really hard to get the boot over the hull opening. Lots of soap but this is a benefit to help get it on, and a detriment with causing an issue of hanging on to it.

Sand down the prop shaft in front of the cutlass bearing real smooth before you try to pull the shaft out. Anything left behind will be drug through the bearing. Here again lots of soap or oil on the cutlass bearing.

If your shaft attaches at the face of the transmission and doesn't go through, then this will be more difficult but not bad. Can always hold the prop to keep shaft from turning. Going to need a large socket for the nut on end of shaft but then again it varies on prop shaft size.

Don't remember what the wrench size is but it also varies depending on shaft size, used a crescent and a pipe wrench. No need to protect the nuts as they will be tossed.

I hope by the time your done you don't wish you would have just removed the engines.
