Is there a spec for this shim or replace with what was there?
I have the tools for the Driven gears shim and Drive gears
shims, but not the cap.
Also, when calculating the shims for the lower bearing (in the upper half), And the fact that its a press fit bearing race, how do you "pre" Calculate the shim amount so you don't have to knock out the race repeatedly and start over?

Manual say's to start with .025" but I start with what was there.
Top cap race shim is set by rolling torque.
Start with the shims that were there and measure with tool and feeler gauge. If you measure .030" ---- you are .005" too low, so add that much to what is there.

I cannot find much on the pre-load method for that bearing. Do I assemble, invert housing. Use some kind of shaft tool to attach my rolling torque wrench to?

Do you have a service manual? (a proper one, genuine, not a wannabe like clymer or seloc)... It's all detailed in the manual very clearly.

Just the pdf's from here the "wanna be" (Clymer) Manual.

Is it a secrete? I said the magic word!

You use a drive shaft from the lower unit.

Thanks Chris. Makes perfect sense now. Does this mean we're going fishing?

Is that an invite? ;)
