Upper bore of shift shaft Gen2

Alpha one Gen 2
Got my upper and lower shift shaft bushings out.
The upper bore is my concern. The seal was all corroded and I picked out most of the rubber and spring parts. I'm not sure about what may or may not be left in there. Is the bore one continuous dimension or is it stepped? I think the metal skeleton of the seal is still in there.

It sure looks like the metal outer shell of the seal is still in there.

Thanks. So it should be OK if I tap that thing out of there. I just wanted to make sure. Is that bore one dimension all the way through? It looks like I have a bit of corrosion. I hope the bore is smooth enough for the new seal to do it's job. Haven't got the seal kit yet. It's in the mail.

OK, Thanks again stonyloam. I tapped out the remainder of the seal. As I said previously, I just wanted to make sure It was just the old seal in there. Now I can see the bore is the same diameter all the way through. So how clean does the bore have to be? It looks like there is some paint or sealer inside there. Here's a picture:
