I need to put a new shift cable in, and I don't understand the part about the bell housing nut that requires a special 9/16 to take out. I took it out ok, but, what or how does it work and what do I do with the new cable when it comes. I just don't understand that area exactly, its purspose and if my new cable comes with what is needed for that area or? Any advice and explanation on what I need to do is appreciated. The nut came out with some tube in it and now what?
Thanks.

That "nut" is the end of the cable itself. It will be self explanatory when you get your new cable.

Ayuh,.... Ya don't need the overly long 9/16" socket anymore,....

All the replacement cables allow ya to unscrew the extended cable guide, install the cable housin' with a plain ole 9/16" socket, then screw the guide back in,.....

I plan on screwing the new cable into the bellhousing first, and then with another set of hands, fishing it through the bellows to the engine in the process of mating the UJ bellows to the gimbal housing
