Look in the adults only thread. It has online versions of the manuals.

i have read the "adult only" information on the serial numbers and what not but that didnt help. there is no plate above the starter on my engine. the only numbers i can make out any where is one on top of the engine- 6269797 gm and on the port side on the casing - 14040202 i am completely stumped.

For the casting numbers, are you sure the last number is a 2 and not a 5? On a few websites the only number that was close to yours ends in a 5. Do you believe the engine to be original?

This website looks helpful.

Between the website and the Mercruiser service bulletin linked below, you could also check your Block Suffix Codes:
The suffix numbers are located on the pad in front of the passenger head, at the mating surface between the head and the block. If your block has been decked to help raise the compression or just to true up the head mounting surface, the numbers may have been removed during the process.
