Simple question - anyone replace the actual brass insert (filler hole base) into the coolant reservoir elbow? Bought a new boat and the brass flange the cap twists on to was cracked, now failed, and leaks coolant. I was pleasantly surprised the brass insert (filler hole base) into the cast iron elbow can be replaced (Mercruiser Part #22-13234A-1). Looks simple enough. Anyone tackle this and any tricks to pull the insert (filler hole base) and press the new one in?
Also the sheet in the part kit states to coat with Locktite #35, which appears to be obsolete. What should I use?
Thanks,
Ed Murphy
