My alpha 1 gen 2 bell housing has a stripped fitting for the hinge pin. The hinge pin screws in but does not tighten, it keeps on turning. I can not tighten it to specs. Is it important to tighten it or can I apply some locktite and put on the out drive. Can anyone suggest a fix for it? Thanks

There is a lot of load on the drive and yes it is very important the pin is tightened to spec. I would suggest getting a helicoil and tap it into the bell housing, or replace it.

Re: Hinge pin stripped

lock-tite on a hinge pin is like putting rubber cement on a condom
