Part identification begins...mercruiser 454

I bought a eliminator boat this offseason with a hydro locked motor that was already at the shop. Getting the motor back tomorrow so the reassembling will begin. Have a few parts I can't identify cause I didn't take it apart.

1993 Mercruiser 454 7.4 bravo 1 drive
Raw water cooled. All stock.

The part in your photo above does not look familiar to be a mercruiser part but eliminator is known to modify parts to make something else work with their boats.

What boat model/size did you buy?

What type of material is that piece?

The boat is a 22' 1993 eliminator extreme. The piece is steel maybe 1/16th thick. I am like 95% sure that it came from the boat when it was broken down. I was thinking something around the flywheel housing.

Have taken apart many 454 Mercs. That doesn't look familiar. Doesn't mean it's not part of it though....
