Im in the process of replaceing my quadrajet carb with an edelbrock 1409 on my ski supreme mercruiser 350. My problem is the stock manifold is a spreadbore base and the new carb is a squarebore base which will not seal. Would you use an adapter or replace the manifold? What manifold will fit? I've heard stay away from alluminum in marine engines. thanks with any suggestions!

Howdy,

I wouldn't hesitate to use an adapter as long as you can get the throttle linkage to work properly.

And I wouldn't use an aluminum manifold in salt water without closed cooling.

I would repair or replace the q-jet, its a far better carb.
