ok I probably know the answer to this but taking a shot in the dark. on a 4.3 mercruiser will a gm oil pressure sending unit work from napa or auto zone? or do I need to get one from a mercruiser dealer? I know some parts are different but some are the same as gm parts. just curious if this is one of them.

It might, I tried once using the auto part and it read backwards.

See if your auto parts store has a marine electronics catalog. I know Standard puts one out.

10 to 40 psi, it depends . type of oil, sender. gauge, wiring, accuracy. Put a mechanical gauge in to see what the actual pressure is

Gauges are gauges are gauges.... The differences are in the setup based on the senders. The North American standard is 240 ohms at Zero, and 33 ohms at full gauge reading. Most all gauges use the NA standard, but like some there are differences. Look up your gauge and see what it uses. Another option is if you change the gauges and the sender as a package then there should be no issues
