My engine control throttle has been fighting me
It has been this way for quite sometime and have been living with it.
I am now at a point I want too fix
I will do the best too describe without loosing you guys.
Throttle control is older Quicksilver side mount single handle with trim & tilt in handle
Leaving dock I get it into forward, but upon return is were it gets critical
forward, neutral, reverse its a battle too get handle too go into each position easily
THIS IS WHAT I DID SO FAR
Opened rear cover of the throttle control
All gears have plenty of grease , clean, no rust
Removed the engine cable from the throttle assembly
Throttle arm moves forward and reverse freely .
Removed cable from boat.
Cable moves freely forward and reverse with no binding, seems too be fine
HERE IS WERE I AM LITTLE LOST
Never changing a throttle control cable
I don't know what a good cable or N.G. cable should and should not do.
End of the cable that goes into throttle I am not able too attach easily
Cable has no bend , end is stiff, and I can twist slightly but after I twist a little it bounces back
Re connecting entire cable assembly not much of an improvement
Cable does not hook up easily .
I am twisting throttle unit into a position that allows cable too attach otherwise
cable can't connect too nipple ?
Once re installed and throttle is back in normal position something is not right
I don't know what a N.G. throttle cable should and should not do
Throttle moves fine when nothing is attached
Cable moves in and out fine when not attached too anything
I re connected cable too engine assembly and was able too move with a screw driver in throttle
end , tighter but moved assembly
And of coarse its not a straight shot from throttle handle too engine ,
what does a bad cable do ?
The other cable in the throttle control for the carburetor is fine no binding .
Hope I did not loose you guys
