1974 mercruiser 5.7 timing

what is the correct timing for this motor, Some one on the block thought it was 8 degrees BTDC.

Is there a diff between marine plug wires and reg plug wires ?

Ayuh,.... SBC timin' is usually 8? or 10?,... Donno 'bout yer's, have to look in the manual, which can be found in Don'S Adults Only section, at the top of this forum,...

Marine spark plug wires are usually considerably Longer than automotive wire sets,...
'n of course, they'll have the Right ends on 'em,...
