shifter cable through bellow on bravo 2

is there a trick for getting new shifter cable through new bellow boot hole is much smaller in boot than cable

Remove the cable at the shift plate and pull it back through the housing. Tie a string on it so you can pull the cable back through once the boot is installed

thanks but how do you get the cable started through the hole in the bellow try forcing but cable is wider than the hole

Your saying just the outer jacket of the shift cable is larger then the hole in the boot? If this is correct, then your OK, it should fit tight. Put some soap or oil on it and it will slide on.

Now if you have not removed the entire cable from the boat yet, you need to do it first

thanks I will give it a try did not know if there was tool to spread the bellow end thanks

The bellows needs to be tight on the cable sheath to form a water-tight seal. Just use a bit of dish-washing liquid on it to help it slide through.
