So I live in Texas San Antonio to be exact and the boat is kept in a covered storage area at Canyon Lake. My question is this. How reliable is the single point drain system on these 5.0 MPI engines? We like to use our boat year round. My old Chap. with a 3.0 was very easy to drain by removing the plugs. I am worried that there might be something that gets clogged in the drainage system. I think its genius how they did this but just worried. It was in the freezing temps the last couple nights for a few hours so I would like to drain the boat. Thanks in advance.

Re: 5.0 MPI Single Point Drain

If you do it according to Mercruiser requirements it works. Just so long as all steps are followed including the use of hand air pump or compressor.

on older engines the block drainsget plugged, block dosent drain, and cracks. recommended to remove block drain hoses and install standard drain plugs
