08 mercruiser stalls in mid thottle

Hello,
I have a mercruiser 4.3 with carb ,boat worked well last year. The engine will stall at mid throttle but idles and moves at low throttle. In the upper range the boat runs and planes but seems a little sluggish at top end.
Should I start by looking at the carb for cleaning or spark plug inspection ? I still have last years gas with stabalizer added and the carb was fogged last year.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,... Why not just do a tune up, 'n compression test,...

Check the contents of the fuel filter for water, 'n crud,...

The info gained should lead ya to the problem,...
