I've been trying to troubleshoot an issue with my outdrive trim. With the boat on the trailer, only the trim down & trailer switches work. The trim up switch does nothing. With the boat in the water, all switches work normally.

Any ideas??

The motor is a 1997 350, Vortec heads, SEI 116 (Alpha 1 Clone) Outdrive. Block is a Chevy L31 Long Block. Edelbrock 1409 Carb w/ Elec Choke, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, Carter Elec fuel pump.

Thanks for any help!

probably a bad trim limit switch or a corroded wire somewhere running from that switch up through the transom. Easy to do a visual on the switch - can mark it with white-out before removing to save some adjustment when re-installing. Take it off and take it apart to inspect the wipers and contacts, or just order a new one - 15 years is longer than they usually last in my experience

Thanks HS

I'll take off the trim switches and ring out the wires. I haven't taken one off before, is there any serviceability to them, or just toss 'em & replace?
