Sounds like that's what I'll have to do. I did order the sierra bolts. I have no problem getting a socket on 'em to tighten fortunately. It's just a cramped area in there.

Ayuh,.... Maybe We'll get Lucky, 'n Don will post the Mercruiser part numbers,..??...

Don's Great at those kinda little tidbits of Super Info,...

I'm trying to get the starter out, the inside bolt came out with no problems. the outside, which is seeable is the pain in the neck, don't want to break it, put rust loosener. It wont come loose. and if the head breaks then what, go through thr procedure of tapping it ? with a reverse drill bit?

I had to use a breaker bar on both of mine, I'm talking a 4 footer which we somehow got to work. Either way, sucker has to be broken loose and I think that's the best way to do it. Deep creep, or even better, ATF will help.

Breaker bar? ATF ? I got the inside out and thinking of cutting the head of the bolt, slide the starter down and then try to unscrew the rest of the bolt, can that work without breaking part of the block?
