I have a 2000 crown line with a 3.0 GM mercruiser. The belt broke after I tightened it and it appeared the alternater needed to be replaced I replaced the belt and alternater and the boat started fine but when I put it in the water and throttled up the circuit trips. The alternater is a new rebuilt unit. Any suggestions as to what is causing the circuit to trip. The battery was not charged but jumper box worked fine to start it.

The alternator shouldn't be charging through any circuit breakers.

If you broke a belt tightening it, then you have other issues with your belt, or you are just going crazy tight with it.
