I posted this originally under outboards by mistake.
I decided to buy a new thermostat for my mercruiser. Unfortunately the new one didn't fit, so went back to the dealer. Under closer inspection the parts microfiche shows an updated housing. So I bought it. Here my issues. The lower hose on the right side is smaller then the inlet on the new housing and it used to go into an elbow which the new one doesn't have. I can piece something together to fix this so no big deal. The next problem is the new housing has no top cap and the old one doesn't fit. All they show in the parts diagram is this plastic feeling hard gasket. Is this correct? Should I have a metal plate made up? How much pressure is I this system?
Any replies would be greatly appreciated as I'm on holidays in another week and need the boat back together!
