Fuel Pump ????

I am trying to get a 3.0LX 1.8l running. I believe the mechanical fuel pump is not working. It is not drawing any fuel through it. Replaced the fuel line from the pump to the tank and by passed the filter. I even turned the engine and put my thumb over the line and no suction. So my question is can I put a cheap auto zone mech. pump in as long as it fits?

im sure a marine pump is better sealed as most marine parts are. But for testing im sure you could if you could find one.

Only if you want to potentionally blow yourself and everyone on the boat to smitherines.Spend the money on a marine pump.

I only want it for testing purposes to see how the engine runs. I picked the boat up for free and was told the engine ran last year. So just trying to get it running. Intelligent educated replies appreciated. Thanks

I had the same issue and i found a pre-owned fuel pump and it the boat fired right up...

Does it have to be the exact pump?
