merc alpha 1 small rubber hose came off

Hi,
During spring inspection and maintenance i noticed a small rubber hose(1\4") had come loose and was removed from the nipple fitting on the lower portion of the i\o.Looking from the transom up into the drive just below the exhaust tube.My question is what does this hose do?
Is it for water flow?

That is the Speedometer hose to the Pitot.
Push it back on the fitting.
The Pitot is part of the lower drive unit.
