All of a sudden I have no reverse throttle on my 1980 MerCruiser 260 control box. Disconnected both control cables from the engine side (throttle and Shift) still can get no reverse throttle. Seems as though something wrong in the shift control box. If I disconnect the shift cable from the control box, I get reverse throttle. The shifter cannot move far enough towards reverse with the cable attached to the control box in order to engage throttle, even with the shift cable disconnected from the engine side. It just hits the stops. Any ideas?
