Hi guys,

I have stern drive mercruiser 5.7 (350 GM block) the steering was very tough to rotate, I have replaced the power steering pump with new one, now it is better than before but still it is not that soft to handle and rotate by one hand, can any body assist me to what to check next.

I have already checked the steering cables and they looks fine, I checked the cylinder at the transom side, it is moving fine.

do I need to check somthing else? do I need to put some grease into the cylinder or any part?

Thanks

You can't tell anything by looking at them. Remove the cable where it goes through the steering cylinder. Corrosion in that tube is usually where they bind up first. It will look fine from the outside.
