Been years since I changed a v-belt and I need to change the alternator belt on my boat. What is the proper tension for both belts? Any other tips for replacement on this engine? Thanks.

At the middle of the longest run with a slight load you should only be able to deflect the belt 1/2" (12.7mm).... I use a calibrated load tool, my thumb. :D...

achris to the rescue once again! Good to see you are still around buddy!

1/2" is what I was thinking, thanks for the confirmation. The alternator belt (which is to be replaced) measures about that right now while the power steering belt is closer to 3/4".
