Replace old trim sender with new style on 888 drive?

I've got an 888 drive that uses the hydraulic piston bolted to the transom plate to actuate the sender. The windings in the sender are buggered up and I lost the black plastic piston from it somewhere in the bilge and have never been able to find it. Will the more modern trim senders bolt onto the gimbel housing to get my trim pos. working again? Even if I have to make some minor parts to adapt it, that would be okay with me.

thanks.

Bon-o is correct, but have you tried to get a used replacement for yours? Most boat salvage yards tend to sell engines and drives but the transom plates get left behind. And there were lots of those drives out there.

Hard to find up here for whatever reason. I'm considering adapting a linear potentiometer or rheostat to the pin. The cylinder/pin works fine, it's just the coil of wire that is all corroded.

I might have a spare that I could let go of pretty cheap. PM me if you're interested.
