Just a couple of simple questions.

I am in the process of rebuilding an old Glassply with the Mercruiser 165 Straight 6. I aquired this boat already dissasembled by various people over the last 20 years. It came with 5 Junk engines so not sure which sn actually belongs with the boat and can not find a sn on the outdrive but am pretty sure it is a MC-1

Completely rebuilt the engine and am installing it today so my first question is what holds the front engine mount to the floor?

Also while the engine was out I drove out the gimbal bearing. It had the large snap ring which people have said is no longer needed, but it also had a plastic collar and a couple of brass shims in there also. I have not read anyone discuss these. Are they outdated and not needed with a new gimbal bearing?

Thanks Rob

SN should be on the port side of the drive on the upper. Usually printed on the decal, and may be stamped on the housing under the decal.

Front mount is typically lag bolted to the cross member.

Not sure if the new style gimbal bearing works on that style gimbal housing or not.
