I'm trying to install a 1988 3.0 engine into a 1995 Bluewater that had a bad 3.0. I have the ignition part figured out, however now I have come across possibly another issue. Does anyone know wheather or not the 1995 Alpha one gen 2 outdrive on the boat will plug right into this 1988 3.0? I am reading the 88' model has a 2 piece rear main seal & the 95' is a one piece. What does this mean? I would really appreciate it if someone could explain this a little. I do have the 95' block for parts. Thanks.

If you have the large triangular plate style engine coupler, they are the same. The 88 engines have the 2 piece rear seal, and the 95 has the one piece. It means the crankshaft and flywheel are different, but the Gen II leg should match up to it...
