Shift Shaft Question

I have an Apha One S/N 0B700925 in my 1987 Renken, Mercruiser 470. When I replaced the impeller pump last season, I must have lost a washer (#50 in the diagram from the manual #6). Anyways, the upper shift shaft dropped down too far so that it would not engage with the shift cable shaft. My questions is the washer I need to replace - there is no information about it - does it fit on top of the lower shift shaft house, does it go into the that retaining piece? I'm hoping someone who has one part can guide me. Simple problem, just want to do it right this time. Thanks in advance. This is on the lower half of the out drive if I wasn't clear.

Re: Shift Shaft Question

a stainless steel washer slips over the spline and rests on the shift shaft bushing

Re: Shift Shaft Question

You can use a stainless washer with a 5/16 hole just as well
