oil pressure gauge not working

Hi all first post to this site ...I have just brought a sea ray 180 signature 1993 ,4.3 mercruiser ,the oil pressure gauge doesnt seem to be working ,where to start looking is the question ,thanks s.l.d

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,... Pull the wire off the sending unit, 'n ground it out,...
The gauge should peg, full pressure...

If it does, the sender is bad, or ain't properly grounded...

If it don't, the gauge, or the wiring 'tween 'em is bad...

Hi thanks for reply ,will try that in the morning thanks very much ,forgot to mention a buzzer sounds when i turn key and leave for 5secs ,then stops when i start engine??? cheers s.l.d
