Mercruiser ID Help

I hope this doesn't sound to stupid but I have never worked on a lower unit so I want to make sure that I get this right based on a older thread I know I have an Alpha one outdrive however I want to make sure before I order the seapump impeller and seals I want to double check so I don't mess anything up also if there is anyone that has done this before down by topsail nc please feel free to drop me a PM any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Ayuh,.... It appears you have an Alpha 1 drive bolted to an ole MC-1 transom assembly...

Thanks i will order in morning since i have never pulled apart an outdrive is there anything else I should check since I don't know the history of the drive

You should pull the outdrive, check the bellows. You really don't want water in the ujoint bellows. Then check the gimbal bearing ujoints, alignment, and be sure to grease the splines on the coupler shaft.

thanks i will give it a read. I just wish I could get this kind of help in topsail all the local mechanics i called about parts kept trying to talk me in to trashing the mercruiser setup and hanging an outboard.

If you have a Napa store call them for the impeller parts. They use the same part numbers as Sierra (probably the same parts). Get the kit with the housing. Don't forget to buy the gasket kit to mount the drive back on too. While you have it off inspect things.
