engine on my 4.3 mercruiser wont turn over

i try to start it and it seems like it is lock up or something is bound

Can you turn the engine by hand? How long since it worked last? Does it make any noise? Click, clunk or anything?

If you can't turn it by hand, Remove the spark plugs and see if you can turn the engine by hand.

If you still can't, remove the outdrive and see if you can then turn the engine by hand. if you still can't at this time, you have serious engine problems.

Any background? When was the last time the boat was used? Problems then?

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,.... What have ya done to it, besides turn the key,..??

Do ya boat in Saltwater,..??

Is the motor raw water cooled,..??

thanks for all the help, i looked at everything and some how the starter was lose so i tighten it and now it will start, but does not stay running after about 15 sec it shuts off

How about some engine info, like serial number, year, carbed or efi

it is a 2bbl mercarb, v6 4.3 mercuiser, i think it is a wire broke at the oil pressure switch

The oil pressure switch has absolutely nothing to do with the engine turning over or not.

Do you have a YEAR or Serial Number for the engine? They are not all the same just because it's a 4.3 carbed.
