Ok, I'm beaten. The reverse lock valve is leaking through the small seal. I replaced the seal, didn't fix it. Bought a new valve (ebay), leaked, so I resealed it. And it still leaks. Any ideas? It leaks going up or down.

Thanks.

What engine, what drive, what year? Can you post a picture of where the leak is? That would help a lot.

It is an MR drive, on a '67 Bertram. The leak is through the small o-ring , out the top. The large ring is sealed up fine. After looking, I think I may be missing the wave washer in the bottom. I'll see if I can get a picture posted tomorrow.

Are you sure you have it adjusted properly?

It is adjusted properly for the shifting, but I didn't know there was any adjustment to internals.

Have you considered a late model pump?LOL
A pic of where it's leaking would help alot! In neutral, What does the pump sound like when it runs in any direction compared to the opposite direction? If it labors 1 way not the other or both, you gotta check the assembly.
