Engine: 2002 3.0L I/O engine in a Tri Toon.
Problem: Will not excel past 2500-2800
Background: Ignition module went out last weekend after an hour cruising on the lake. It had no spark, and was told to replace the ignition module and coil.
Could not find Mercury or Quicksilver parts over weekend so I bought both from O'Rielly that crossed referenced with the original two parts.
Engine now starts, idles, and will go full throttle when black button engaged in both forward and reverse
Engine will go to full throttle in reverse.
Engine will not go past 2500 - 2800 RPM at full throttle. Engine does not try to stall or buck; just has zero additional power.
No problems before installing new ignition module.
Could the problem be because the parts are not Mercury or Quicksilver parts?
