Hard to start 5.0 MPI

The last couple of times out it has been really hard to get my 2005 5.0 MPI motor started. It cranks a long time before catching and then stalls when put in gear and is again hard to start. Once I get it over to the dock and can let it warm up there are no further issues the rest of the day. Any ideas as to what's wrong?

Have you checked anything or done anything to it as far as troubleshooting goes? Have you checked the fuel filter for water? Tuneup?

What's the serial number of your engine. 2005 means little.

I've never had hard starting issues with a fuel injected engine before. Its hard to start cold but once its warmed up it runs and restarts just fine. I was wondering if there was a common cause or 2 for this behavior. The boat is in a shed near the lake so its kind of a hassle for me to work on it and I don't have the engine's serial number handy. I would have guessed that all Mercruiser 5.0 MPI engines were pretty similar.
