Can anyone tell me the length of the original dipstick tube on this engine ? mine is not original and I dont trust it

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,... a 228 is a 305, Not a 350....

To figure out if the dipstick is Right,...
Drain the oil, 'n put 4 quarts in the base, 'n check it....

It should be Very close to the Full line...
