1996 mercruiser 3.0lx carb problems?

hi guys hopefully someone can help i posted a few days ago and no reponse so ill ask a different question on the front of my carb i have a round thing that has two wires tied to it is this a choke if so it runs real hot to the touch i unplugged it to see if it made a difference in the way its running and made no difference starting or running any help you guys could provide would really help thanks alot jared

that electric choke can get quite warm to the touch

Thanks for replying you guys are great for taking time out of your day to do that. Should it make a difference when i undo the wires? And i posted awhile back could you look at it and give any pointers by any chance? Thanks again for the reply
