Timing Tab on Mercruiser has no numbers--just marks

The timing tab on my 1967 Mercruiser 153 cu.in 4cyl engine has a timing tab that just has marks but no numbers to indicate degrees before and after TDC. The tab was painted over in the factory and I have somewhat had to guess all these years as to where the factory specs of 8* BTDC is located. Could someone attach some numbers to the attached photo to identify the various degrees. It would be equally fantastic if another forum reader would verify their correctness. Thanks in advance.

I know this doesn't answer your question exactly but attached is all that is in the manual.

"Markings on tabs are in 2 degree increments, with greatest number of markings on "A" (Advance) side of "0" (TDC). All Before TDC settings fall on the "A" side of "0".



I too am interested in where 0 is exactly on this tab as mine too is un-readable.

I forgot to mention, my Mercruiser is a 120 hp. Are my tab markings the same as the one in your illustration?
