Am I supposed to use a gasket sealer (Perfect Seal?) on the gasket and mating surfaces when re-attaching the carburetor to the manifold on my Mercruiser 3.0 engine?

Thank you,
Barrett

Just out of curiosity, why never on carb gaskets?

marc c, theres no need. The seal is fine, as the carb sucks air through that big hole on top,and it will not need to look elsewhere

Conrad, Do you have the gasket? I recently rebuilt my carb, a 2brl Rochester on top of a 4.3 GM V6 and I could tell by what I removed that the gasket was thick, when I got the new gasket it was a good 1/4 inch thick. No sealent needed and dont substitute auto gasket for marine. Donwon
