1990 Mercruiser Alpha 1 sterndrive How do you remove shift cable bellows?

I've removed the upper unit with drive shaft.How to you remove the shift cable bellows from the cable in order to slide the new one one?Do I remove the little set screw with wire and slide off the shift thing attached to the shift cable?I'm having problems understanding how to get the bellows off the cable?Or even disconnecting the shift cable to do so?

you need to locate a manual ,read it and understand it BEFORE you start.
The cable is disconnected, unscrewed from the housing and removed
the boot is replaced and the cable or new cable installed.
Guessing at how to do it will definitely cost you a lot more. Incorrectly done could cause your boat to sink

I gave him the link to the manual earlier in his other thread. Section 4A covers all that is needed to do the job.
